A similar example of this piece can be found on page 195, bottom right, of Collecting the Edged Weapons of Imperial Germany, Vol. I. Highly ornate hilt and backstrap feature oak leaves and acorns. Sharkskin grip is perfect with the royal cypher in the center. Has the triple wire wrap intact. Beautiful "maiden hair" Damascus blade has "Damaststahl Eisenhauer" in a ribbon on the ricasso on the obverse. Spine has the distributor "I. Robrecht, Hoflieferant, Berlin". Blade is in beautiful condition and would grade Near MINT. Has its felt buffer pad intact. Scabbard is totally dent- free, but has been professionally repainted. Superb! Exc++ (11947) $3,050.
