Imperial M-89 Cavalry Sword w/Etched Blade. ACS,
scales TM. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show light
surface wear and dark age patina to pommel, knuckle-bow
and folding handguard with Prussian eagle. Black,
celluloid-over-wood grip shows light surface wear
with two cracks to celluloid. Plated blade measuring
32 1/2" in length features double-etched floral
and military motif designs on both obverse and reverse.
Obverse blade features a center blued panel with
the raised inscription, "2. Hannov. (Hannovarian)
Drag.-Reg. No 16" while the reverse blade features
a central blued panel depicting six mounted soldiers
conducting a cavalry charge. This regiment was stationed
at Luneburg southeast of Hamburg with King Albert
of Belgium serving as chief of the regiment. White
leather blade buffer pad is present. Steel scabbard
retains approximately 75% of its original black
enamel with two light surface depressions. Exc.
