Imperial
Saxon Infantry Officer Sword. WK&C (king's head
& knight's helmet) TM. An illustration of this sword
appears in the Imperial WK&C sales catalog as Pattern
Nr. 191, "Sächsischer Infanterie=Offizier=Säbel
mit Chanier". Fire-gilted hilt shows light surface
wear with much gilting remaining to oak leaf bordered
bulbous style pommel, plain knuckel-bow and folding
handguard which features a filigree motif surrounding
a central facsimile of the Imperial Saxon coat of
arms. Black sharkskin grip is perfect with no rips
or tears and is complete with gilt triple wire wrap.
Plain, double-fullered plated blade measuring 31
¾" in length grades VG+/excellent, showing some
spots of lifting to plating, but no nicks to the
cutting edges. Obverse upper blade is engraved with
the name of the distributor, "Matthias Müller Leipzig"
and "Eisenhauer Garantirt", and is complete with
original red felt buffer pad. Dent-free, nickel-plated
scabbard with two suspension bands/rings shows much
speckling, crazing, and some lifting to the plating.
Sword is complete with original silver bullion and
green Saxon Officer's portepee with silver bullion
acorn. Recently obtained from a veteran's estate
