Bavarian Cavalry Officer Sword. No maker. This model
sword is identical to the one pictured on p. 430
of Angolia's new sword book, with the exception
that the nickel scabbard only has a fixed single
ring mount versus a double ring mount. Hilt and
Bakelite grip are in exceptional shape. Crossguard
features the large Bavarian lion holding shield
and sword. Blade is double-etched with a faded blue
panel on the obverse side. In the center panel is
the following: "4. Chev. Reg. Konig". A bust of
the Kaiser is also featured in the motif. The reverse
of the blade has a raised gold etching of charging
mounted Cavalry troops wearing Garde du Corps helmets
(similar to the blade pictured on p. 164 of Collecting
the Edged Weapons of Imperial Germany. This sword
was a veteran purchase in the state of Massachusetts
and was purchased complete with a scarce Imperial
sword knot with maroon leather strap, yellow crown
and green-colored loose acorn. Nickel scabbard is
dent-free and only shows minimal wear. Nice vet
purchased sword! Exc. (7436) $630.
