Imperial Saxony Damascus Cavalry Sword. Clemen und Jung Model #1889 ("Z" within a shield) TM. An example of this beautiful sword can be seen on p. 202 of Collecting the Edged Weapons of Imperial Germany. Beautiful nickel-silver "folding basket" and hilt fittings are in Excellent+ condition. Knuckle-bow is stamped, "P4 259". Black grip is in Near MINT condition. Scabbard shows 75% of original paint and has a few minor dents. Beautiful Damascus blade, in addition to being maker marked, has the distributor's name on the spine. Gold panel on reverse has the Saxon crest and crown. Obverse features crown with royal cypher.
