Presentation Imperial Navy Dagger w/Damascus Blade
maker: WKC (knight head) TM
condition: Exc.
item number: 19312
price: $2,595.00

Damascus “maiden hair” pattern. Obverse tang is stamped, “6472” with the reverse tang stamped, “M+6019”. Obverse blade is inscribed in raised Gothic letters, “Rasch s/l. Nerger” (Rasch to his dear friend Nerger). The Imperial Naval ranklist indicates there were several officers by the name of Rasch and Nerger; however, a comparison of commission dates, May 1905, and date of promotion to Kapitan-Leutnant, April 1916, indicates that the two officers whose names appear on the blade were, most likely, Richard Rasch and Johann-Maximilian Nerger.

maker: Knight head (WK&C) TM.

Solid brass, 1-piece, cast hilt shows light wear to the deluxe oak leaf embellished backstrap, horizontally ribbed grip and smooth crossguard, with a raised Imperial/Kaiser crown on the smooth quillion block. Pommel cap features an Imperial Officer pattern crown, which has had the upper cross and cross supports professionally filed off. This was often done to protect the uniform from being damaged by the sharp points of the crown and supports. Beneath the obverse crossguard is a non-folding, oval-shaped clamshell guard displaying a raised fouled anchor.
